Curtains Market Size in Bangladesh

The Bangladeshi curtains market contracted significantly to $X in 2021, which is down by -38.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a buoyant increase. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

Over the period under review, exports showed a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 75%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X square meters. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, curtains exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 80%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

The UK (X square meters), Germany (X square meters) and Sweden (X square meters) were the main destinations of curtains exports from Bangladesh, together accounting for 53% of total exports. Poland, the Netherlands, Italy, France, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, China, Spain and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +21.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the UK ($X), Poland ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for curtains exported from Bangladesh worldwide, with a combined 57% share of total exports.

Poland, with a CAGR of +36.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average curtains export price stood at $X per square meter in 2021, with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.5%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+32.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, imports of curtains and interior blinds into Bangladesh totaled X square meters, standing approx. at the year before. Over the period under review, imports recorded a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 185% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X square meters in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
