The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Georgia (X tonnes), Kazakhstan (X tonnes) and Russia (X tonnes) were the main destinations of preserved tomato exports from Azerbaijan, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Belarus, the U.S., Canada and the United Arab Emirates, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Belarus (+X% per year), while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Georgia ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Russia ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for preserved tomato exported from Azerbaijan worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. In 2020, supplies from abroad of preserved tomatoes decreased by -X% to X tonnes, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, preserved tomato imports expanded modestly to $X in 2020. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2020 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2020, Italy (X tonnes) constituted the largest preserved tomato supplier to Azerbaijan, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, preserved tomato imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Russia (X tonnes), more than tenfold.
