Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, dried or salted fish imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2020, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of dried or salted fish to Azerbaijan, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, dried or salted fish imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X kg), threefold.

From 2012 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume from Russia totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+X% per year) and Belarus (+X% per year).

Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of X%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2020, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+X%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
