Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.
In value terms, sulphur exports skyrocketed to $X in 2020. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Exports peaked at $X in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
The Czech Republic (X tonnes), Germany (X tonnes) and Switzerland (X tonnes) were the main destinations of sulphur exports from Austria, together accounting for X% of total exports.
From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Czech Republic (+X% per year), while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for sulphur exports from Austria, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Germany ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Switzerland, with a X% share.
From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the Czech Republic stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (-X% per year) and Switzerland (+X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average sulphur export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, falling by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by X% year-to-year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2020, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Austria
In 2020, imports of sulphur (sublimed or precipitated) and colloidal sulphur into Austria reduced dramatically to X tonnes, declining by -X% against 2019 figures. Overall, imports, however, saw buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tonnes. from 2016 to 2020, the growth imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, sulphur imports fell remarkably to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2020, Slovakia (X tonnes) constituted the largest sulphur supplier to Austria, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, sulphur imports from Slovakia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Hungary (X tonnes), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Germany (X tonnes), with a X% share.
From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Slovakia amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hungary (+X% per year) and Germany (+X% per year).
In value terms, Slovakia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of sulphur to Austria, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Germany ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a X% share.
From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Slovakia totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+X% per year) and Poland (+X% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average sulphur import price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a mild descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per tonne), while the price for Slovakia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
