Germany (X tons) was the main destination for silicone exports from Austria, with a 35% share of total exports. The third position in this ranking was held by Hong Kong SAR (X tons), with a 7.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany amounted to -9.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hungary (+7.9% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (+119.5% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for silicone exports from Austria, comprising 31% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Hungary ($X), with a 9.7% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 5.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany totaled -6.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hungary (+6.5% per year) and the Czech Republic (-3.5% per year).

The average silicone export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 19% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.7%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Overall, imports, however, recorded a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.

In general, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last nine-year period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of silicone to Austria, with a 80% share of total imports. Moreover, silicone imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, France (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the Netherlands (X tons), with a 4.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany totaled +6.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+39.6% per year) and the Netherlands (+8.9% per year).
