Russia (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the main destinations of roasted coffee exports from Austria, with a combined 50% share of total exports. Slovakia, the Netherlands, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria, Croatia and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +26.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), Russia ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) were the largest markets for roasted coffee exported from Austria worldwide, together comprising 41% of total exports. The Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Italy, Romania, the United States, Bulgaria, Croatia and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.
Croatia, with a CAGR of +26.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average roasted coffee export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 7.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 8.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+16.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Roasted coffee imports into Austria expanded rapidly to X tons in 2021, with an increase of 5.3% compared with the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 14%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, roasted coffee imports stood at $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Germany (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of roasted coffee imports to Austria, together accounting for 84% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Slovakia (with a CAGR of +49.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 6.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
