In value terms, whole fresh milk imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, New Zealand (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of whole fresh milk to Australia, with a 88% share of total imports. Moreover, whole fresh milk imports from New Zealand exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), sevenfold.
