Non-Alloy Steel H-Sections Market Size in Australia

In 2020, after five years of growth, there was significant decline in the Australian non-alloy steel h-sections market, when its value decreased by -X% to $X. Overall, consumption showed a dramatic slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-alloy steel h-sections exports shrank rapidly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports recorded a precipitous decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Exports by Country

Indonesia (X tonnes) was the main destination for non-alloy steel h-sections exports from Australia, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, non-alloy steel h-sections exports to Indonesia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Sri Lanka (X tonnes), more than tenfold.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Indonesia stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Sri Lanka (+X% per year) and Thailand (-X% per year).

The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sri Lanka, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2020, purchases abroad of h-sections of of non-alloy steel decreased by -X% to X tonnes for the first time since 2014, thus ending a five-year rising trend. In general, imports saw a sharp slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tonnes in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-alloy steel h-sections imports fell markedly to $X in 2020. Overall, imports saw a dramatic decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

Imports by Country

Bahrain (X tonnes), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tonnes) and Saudi Arabia (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of non-alloy steel h-sections imports to Australia, together comprising X% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Bahrain, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Bahrain ($X), Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X) constituted the largest non-alloy steel h-sections suppliers to Australia, with a combined X% share of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, Bahrain saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average non-alloy steel h-sections import price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, growing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of X% year-to-year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2015 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the countries with the highest prices were Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per tonne) and Viet Nam ($X per tonne), while the price for Bahrain ($X per tonne) and Saudi Arabia ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Viet Nam, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
