In 2021, overseas shipments of concentrated grapefruit juice increased by 93% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, recorded a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 345% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, concentrated grapefruit juice exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a deep setback. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

New Zealand (X tons), China (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main destinations of concentrated grapefruit juice exports from Australia.

Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, concentrated grapefruit juice imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 109%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, South Africa (X tons) constituted the largest concentrated grapefruit juice supplier to Australia, accounting for a 69% share of total imports. Moreover, concentrated grapefruit juice imports from South Africa exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Cuba (X tons), with a 4.7% share.

The average concentrated grapefruit juice import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -10.2% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, concentrated grapefruit juice import price decreased by -25.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton.
