The Asian wooden window market expanded markedly to $X in 2021, picking up by 11% against the previous year. In general, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wooden window production rose notably to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2021, overseas shipments of windows, french windows and their frames of wood decreased by -8.1% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Overall, exports showed a noticeable decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, wooden window exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

China dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 89% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - the Philippines (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Myanmar (X tons) - together made up 8% of total exports.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the windows, french windows and their frames of wood exports, with a CAGR of +8.0% from 2012 to 2021. Turkey (-1.1%), the Philippines (-6.1%) and Myanmar (-34.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of China increased by +58 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest wooden window supplier in Asia, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Philippines ($X), with a 2.9% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 1.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China amounted to +7.4%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Philippines (-6.7% per year) and Turkey (-0.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 28% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.9%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Myanmar (+6.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of windows, french windows and their frames of wood decreased by -10.3% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports showed a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, wooden window imports reduced to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Japan prevails in imports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 57% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Israel (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Qatar (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons), together generating a 21% share of total imports. The following importers - Turkey (X tons), Cambodia (X tons), Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), China (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) - each reached a 12% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to wooden window imports into Japan stood at -4.6%. At the same time, Lao People's Democratic Republic (+118.6%), Cambodia (+79.9%), Qatar (+16.4%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lao People's Democratic Republic emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +118.6% from 2012-2021. Israel experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Turkey (-1.8%), Kazakhstan (-2.2%), South Korea (-5.5%), Thailand (-8.1%) and China (-11.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Qatar (+3.8 p.p.), Israel (+2.5 p.p.), Cambodia (+2.4 p.p.) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (+2.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while China and Thailand saw its share reduced by -1.7% and -2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
