Vinyl Chloride Exports

Exports in Asia

In 2022, the amount of vinyl chloride (chloroethylene) exported in Asia reduced to X tons, waning by X% against the year before. Total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by X% against 2012 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, vinyl chloride exports dropped rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

Exports by Country

Japan represented the largest exporter of vinyl chloride (chloroethylene) in Asia, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by South Korea (X%), China (X%), Indonesia (X%) and Thailand (X%).

Exports from Japan increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, China (X%), Indonesia (X%), South Korea (X%), Taiwan (Chinese) (X%) and Thailand (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, China emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Japan, China and Indonesia increased by X, X and X percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the largest vinyl chloride supplier in Asia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by South Korea, with a X% share.

In Japan, vinyl chloride exports increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Taiwan (Chinese) (X% per year) and South Korea (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by X% against the previous year. Export price indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, vinyl chloride export price increased by X% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of X%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then contracted in the following year.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Thailand ($X per ton) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while South Korea ($X per ton) and Japan ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Asia

After seven years of growth, supplies from abroad of vinyl chloride (chloroethylene) decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Total imports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2013 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, vinyl chloride imports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank notably in the following year.

Imports by Country

China was the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which amounted to X% of total imports. India (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), the Philippines (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons). All these countries together took near X% share of total imports. The following importers - Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) - each amounted to an X% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for South Korea (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest vinyl chloride importing markets in Asia were China ($X), India ($X) and Vietnam ($X), together accounting for X% of total imports. The Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan (Chinese) and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

South Korea, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, vinyl chloride import price increased by X% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by X%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell in the following year.
