Production By Country in Asia
China (X tonnes) remains the largest pesticide producing country in Asia, accounting for X% of total volume. Moreover, pesticide production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, India (X tonnes), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Japan (X tonnes), with a X% share.
In China, pesticide production expanded at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: India (+X% per year) and Japan (+X% per year).

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of pesticides, when their volume decreased by -X% to X tonnes. In general, exports, however, posted resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tonnes, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, pesticide exports dropped to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +X% against 2014 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2020, and then declined in the following year.
Exports by Country
China was the key exporter of pesticides in Asia, with the volume of exports amounting to X tonnes, which was near X% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by India (X tonnes), constituting a X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Malaysia (X tonnes), Israel (X tonnes) and Thailand (X tonnes) - together made up X% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to pesticide exports from China stood at +X%. At the same time, India (+X%), Thailand (+X%) and Malaysia (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +X% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Israel (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+X p.p.) and India (+X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Malaysia (-X p.p.) and Israel (-X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China stood at +X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (+X% per year) and Israel (+X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per tonne, picking up by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per tonne in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per tonne), while Malaysia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of pesticides increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
In value terms, pesticide imports reached $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Thailand (X tonnes), India (X tonnes), China (X tonnes), Vietnam (X tonnes), Japan (X tonnes), the Philippines (X tonnes) and Indonesia (X tonnes) represented roughly X% of total imports in 2021. Malaysia (X tonnes), Turkey (X tonnes), Bangladesh (X tonnes), Myanmar (X tonnes), Pakistan (X tonnes) and Hong Kong SAR (X tonnes) took a relatively small share of total imports.

These countries were followed by Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Turkey, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Myanmar and Hong Kong SAR, which together accounted for a further X terms of the main importing countries, Myanmar, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per tonne in 2021, falling by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per tonne in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was China ($X per tonne), while Myanmar ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
