In 2022, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, surging by 2.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a measured increase. At the same time, Myanmar (+42.5%), India (+14.4%), South Korea (+7.6%), Bangladesh (+6.3%), Vietnam (+5.6%), the United Arab Emirates (+1.8%) and Malaysia (+1.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Myanmar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +42.5% from 2012-2022. Thailand and Iraq experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Turkey (-1.9%), Iran (-8.0%) and Hong Kong SAR (-21.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Indonesia, India, Myanmar, South Korea and Vietnam increased by +9.2, +7.4, +5, +4.8 and +2.3 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest paper knife importing markets in Asia were Indonesia ($X), South Korea ($X) and Vietnam ($X), with a combined 46% share of total imports.

Indonesia, with a CAGR of +17.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, declining by -7.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 15% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per unit), while Myanmar (less than $X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+10.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
