The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 21%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, exports of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing reached $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a modest expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 32%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
India dominates sowing structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 64% of total exports in 2021. Israel (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Indonesia (X tons), China (X tons) and Thailand (X tons). All these countries together took near 28% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to seed, fruit and spore used for sowing exports from India stood at +1.0%. At the same time, Indonesia (+8.9%) and Israel (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +8.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, China (-1.5%) and Thailand (-6.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of India and Indonesia increased by +4.5 and +3.4 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Israel ($X), India ($X) and Thailand ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 48% of total exports. These countries were followed by China and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 7%.
Among the main exporting countries, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +5.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -15.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 35% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+11.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Asia
In 2021, imports of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing in Asia soared to X tons, picking up by 37% on the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +40.3% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 40% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, imports of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the three major importers of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing, namely China, Lebanon and Bangladesh, represented more than two-thirds of total import. It was distantly followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), mixing up a 5.4% share of total imports. Iraq (X tons), Japan (X tons) and Israel (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Iraq (with a CAGR of +27.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing in Asia, comprising 32% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Lebanon ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with a 6.7% share.
In China, imports of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing increased at an average annual rate of +12.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Lebanon (+2.2% per year) and Japan (-1.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, falling by -12.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 28% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Bangladesh ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+9.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
