Wrapping Papers Exports

Exports in Asia-Pacific

For the third consecutive year, Asia-Pacific recorded growth in shipments abroad of wrapping paper, packaging paper and paperboard, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by X% against 2013 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X%. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, wrapping papers exports rose sharply to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by X% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while Singapore ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of wrapping paper, packaging paper and paperboard, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
