In 2021, the Asia-Pacific wooden window market was finally on the rise to reach $X after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. China prevails in exports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 91% of total exports in 2021. The Philippines (X tons) and Myanmar (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the windows, french windows and their frames of wood exports, with a CAGR of +8.0% from 2012 to 2021. The Philippines (-6.1%) and Myanmar (-34.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+60 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Myanmar saw its share reduced by -59.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest wooden window supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 94% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Philippines ($X), with a 3% share of total exports.

In China, wooden window exports increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Philippines (-6.7% per year) and Myanmar (-30.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 28% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.9%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Myanmar (+6.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of windows, french windows and their frames of wood decreased by -22.4% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after three years of growth. Overall, imports recorded a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 43%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, wooden window imports dropped markedly to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a perceptible slump. These countries were followed by Cambodia, Taiwan (Chinese), Thailand and Lao People's Democratic Republic, which together accounted for a further 6.7%.

Cambodia, with a CAGR of +81.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -3.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 14% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
