Whole Fresh Milk Exports

Exports in Asia-Pacific

In 2022, shipments abroad of whole fresh milk decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2013, thus ending a eight-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

In value terms, whole fresh milk exports dropped to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Australia (X tons) and New Zealand (X tons) were the key exporters of whole fresh milk in Asia-Pacific, together creating X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X tons), mixing up an X% share of total exports. China (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), India (X tons) and Bangladesh (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Bangladesh ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bangladesh (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

After four years of growth, supplies from abroad of whole fresh milk decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then declined sharply in the following year.

In value terms, whole fresh milk imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

China represented the largest importer of whole fresh milk in Asia-Pacific, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the Philippines (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and Hong Kong SAR (X tons), together achieving a X% share of total imports. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.
