Exports in Asia-Pacific
In 2022, the amount of semiconductor devices exported in Asia-Pacific dropped dramatically to X units, shrinking by X% against 2021 figures. Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, semiconductor device exports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
The shipments of the four major exporters of semiconductor devices, namely Hong Kong SAR, Malaysia, Japan and Singapore, represented more than two-thirds of total export. Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by the Philippines (X%).
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Malaysia (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, Singapore ($X), Malaysia ($X) and the Philippines ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising X% of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Malaysia, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of X% against the previous year. Export price indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, semiconductor device export price increased by X% against 2019 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per unit), while Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of semiconductor devices increased by X% to X units, rising for the fourth consecutive year after four years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, semiconductor device imports fell modestly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
Imports by Country
China was the major importing country with an import of about X units, which resulted at X% of total imports. India (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Singapore (X%) and Hong Kong SAR (X%). The following importers - the Philippines (X units), Malaysia (X units) and Vietnam (X units) - each accounted for an X% share of total imports.
China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of semiconductor devices. At the same time, India (X%), the Philippines (X%) and Vietnam (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (X%), Malaysia (X%) and Singapore (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. India (X p.p.), the Philippines (X p.p.), Vietnam (X p.p.) and China (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Singapore saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported semiconductor devices in Asia-Pacific, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by the Philippines, with an X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China totaled X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (X% per year) and the Philippines (X% per year).
