In 2020, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of refined palm oil, when their volume decreased by -X% to X tonnes. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% year-to-year. The volume of export peaked at X tonnes in 2019, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, refined palm oil exports fell significantly to $X in 2020. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Indonesia represented the largest exporting country with an export of about X tonnes, which accounted for X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X tonnes), making up a X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Indonesia.

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of refined palm oil decreased by -X% to X tonnes in 2020. Total imports indicated a tangible expansion from 2007 to 2020: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, imports increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012 with an increase of X% year-to-year. The volume of import peaked at X tonnes in 2019, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, refined palm oil imports reached $X in 2020. Total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2007 to 2020: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In 2020, China (X tonnes) represented the major importer of refined palm oil, committing X% of total imports. Pakistan (X tonnes) occupied the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Bangladesh (X tonnes), Myanmar (X tonnes), Japan (X tonnes) and Viet Nam (X tonnes). All these countries together held approx. X% share of total imports. South Korea (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2007 to 2020, average annual rates of growth with regard to refined palm oil imports into China stood at +X%. At the same time, South Korea (+X%), Bangladesh (+X%), Viet Nam (+X%), Myanmar (+X%), Pakistan (+X%) and Japan (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, South Korea emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2020. Pakistan (+X p.p.), Bangladesh (+X p.p.), Myanmar (+X p.p.), South Korea (+X p.p.) and Viet Nam (+X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while China saw its share reduced by -X% from 2007 to 2020, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
