China was the main exporter of phosphate rock in Asia-Pacific, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2020. Vietnam (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Nauru (X%). Pakistan (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, average annual rates of growth with regard to phosphate rock exports from China stood at -X%. At the same time, Pakistan (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Pakistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2020. By contrast, Vietnam (-X%) and Nauru (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In China, phosphate rock exports decreased by an average annual rate of -X% over the period from 2007-2020. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Nauru (-X% per year) and Vietnam (-X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The phosphate rock export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2020, with a decrease of -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a mild slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Nauru ($X per ton), while Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. from 2012 to 2020, the growth imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, phosphate rock imports reached $X in 2020. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 with an increase of X% year-to-year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

India dominates phosphate rock imports structure, recording X tons, which was near X% of total imports in 2020. It was distantly followed by South Korea (X tons), creating a X% share of total imports. New Zealand (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Australia (X tons), the Philippines (X tons) and Pakistan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2007 to 2020, average annual rates of growth with regard to phosphate rock imports into India stood at +X%. At the same time, the Philippines (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Philippines emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2020. By contrast, New Zealand (-X%), Indonesia (-X%), Malaysia (-X%), South Korea (-X%), Australia (-X%) and Pakistan (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. India (+X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia and South Korea saw its share reduced by -X%, -X%, -X%, -X%, -X% and -X% from 2007 to 2020, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
