Matches Exports

Exports in Asia-Pacific

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of matches decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, matches exports fell to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a pronounced setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, India (X tons) was the major exporter of matches, mixing up X% of total exports. Pakistan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Indonesia (X tons). In value terms, matches imports shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a perceptible slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Afghanistan represented the major importing country with an import of about X tons, which amounted to X% of total imports. New Zealand (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Afghanistan decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Vietnam (X%), Pakistan (X%), Thailand (X%), Solomon Islands (X%), Australia (X%) and New Zealand (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Pakistan (X p.p.), Australia (X p.p.), Vietnam (X p.p.), Thailand (X p.p.) and Solomon Islands (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Afghanistan saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
