By contrast, South Korea (X%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (X p.p.) and India (X p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, metal chain imports totaled $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the four major importers of iron or steel chain, namely India, Japan, the Philippines and South Korea, represented more than half of total import. Australia (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Thailand (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons). All these countries together held near X% share of total imports. Indonesia (X tons), Singapore (X tons), China (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Myanmar (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.
