Exports in Asia-Pacific

In 2022, overseas shipments of fibreboard decreased by X% to X cubic meters for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X cubic meters, and then fell slightly in the following year.

In value terms, fibreboard exports expanded markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

Exports by Country

Thailand (X cubic meters) and China (X cubic meters) prevails in exports structure, together committing X% of total exports. New Zealand (X cubic meters) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Malaysia (X%) and Indonesia (X%). Vietnam (X cubic meters) took a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of fibreboard decreased by X% to X cubic meters, falling for the fourth year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X cubic meters in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Japan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of fibreboard. At the same time, Malaysia (X%), South Korea (X%), the Philippines (X%), Afghanistan (X%) and Australia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Malaysia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, India (X%), Vietnam (X%), Indonesia (X%) and China (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
