The countries with the highest volumes of beeswax production in 2021 were India (X tonnes), China (X tonnes) and South Korea (X tonnes), together accounting for X% of total production. Indonesia and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Indonesia (+X%), while beeswax production for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The countries with the highest volumes of beeswax production in 2021 were India (X tonnes), China (X tonnes) and South Korea (X tonnes), with a combined X% share of total production. In 2021, shipments abroad of beeswax was finally on the rise to reach X tonnes after two years of decline. Total exports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, beeswax exports reduced slightly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

China was the main exporter of beeswax in Asia-Pacific, with the volume of exports recording X tonnes, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Indonesia (X tonnes), mixing up a X% share of total exports. Vietnam (X tonnes) and India (X tonnes) held a minor share of total exports.

Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Indonesia (+X%), India (+X%) and Vietnam (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +X% from 2012-2021. While the share of Indonesia (+X p.p.) and China (+X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Vietnam (-X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest beeswax supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Vietnam ($X), with an X% share of total exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China was relatively modest. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (+X% per year) and Indonesia (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the beeswax export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per tonne, waning by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the export price increased by X% year-to-year. The level of export peaked at $X per tonne in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per tonne), while Indonesia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

Beeswax imports contracted significantly to X tonnes in 2021, with a decrease of -X% against 2020 figures. In general, imports recorded a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tonnes, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

In value terms, beeswax imports shrank to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Japan (X tonnes), distantly followed by Australia (X tonnes), South Korea (X tonnes), China (X tonnes), Thailand (X tonnes) and Pakistan (X tonnes) represented the main importers of beeswax, together achieving X% of total imports. The Philippines (X tonnes), India (X tonnes), Hong Kong SAR (X tonnes), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tonnes), Vietnam (X tonnes), Myanmar (X tonnes) and Nepal (X tonnes) took a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Nepal (+X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The beeswax import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per tonne in 2021, rising by X% against the previous year. Import price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, beeswax import price decreased by -X% against 2016 indices. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
