Beer Exports
Exports in Asia-Pacific
In 2022, overseas shipments of beer increased by X% to X litres, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. Over the period under review, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X litres in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, beer exports totaled $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2022, China (X litres) was the key exporter of beer, mixing up X% of total exports. Thailand (X litres) ranks second in terms of the total exports with an X% share, followed by Vietnam (X%), South Korea (X%), Japan (X%) and Singapore (X%). Malaysia (X litres) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to beer exports from China stood at X%. At the same time, Japan (X%) and Vietnam (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Japan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. South Korea experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Singapore (X%), Malaysia (X%) and Thailand (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (X p.p.), Japan (X p.p.) and Vietnam (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand saw its share reduced by X%, X% and X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest beer supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Singapore, with an X% share.
In China, beer exports increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (X% per year) and Singapore (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per litre in 2022, picking up by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per litre. From 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per litre), while China ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Beer Imports
Imports in Asia-Pacific
In 2022, supplies from abroad of beer decreased by X% to X litres, falling for the fourth consecutive year after seven years of growth. Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by X% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X%. The volume of import peaked at X litres in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, beer imports declined to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade.
