Alumina Market Size in Asia-Pacific

The Asia-Pacific alumina market rose sharply to $X in 2020, surging by X% against the previous year. Overall, consumption showed buoyant growth. It was distantly followed by India (X tonnes), Indonesia (X tonnes) and Viet Nam (X tonnes), together making up a X% share of total exports. China (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Australia decreased at an average annual rate of -X% from 2007 to 2020. At the same time, Indonesia (+X%), Viet Nam (+X%), China (+X%) and India (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2020. While the share of India (+X p.p.), Indonesia (+X p.p.), Viet Nam (+X p.p.) and China (+X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2007-2020, the share of Australia (-X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Australia ($X) remains the largest alumina supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by India ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Viet Nam, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value in Australia amounted to -X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (+X% per year) and Viet Nam (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The alumina export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per tonne in 2020, reducing by -X% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export prices reached the peak figure at $X per tonne in 2019, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was China ($X per tonne), while Australia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
