Exports from Taiwan (Chinese) decreased at an average annual rate of -22.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Pakistan (+18.7%) and India (+4.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Pakistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +18.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Malaysia (-6.6%), Singapore (-7.0%), Australia (-8.5%), China (-20.4%) and the Philippines (-38.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. India (+18 p.p.), Taiwan (Chinese) (+7 p.p.), Singapore (+6.2 p.p.), Australia (+6 p.p.), Pakistan (+3.4 p.p.) and Malaysia (+2.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the Philippines saw its share reduced by -48.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), Australia ($X) and India ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 62% of total exports. These countries were followed by Pakistan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and China, which together accounted for a further 32%.

Malaysia, with a CAGR of +9.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 28% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a noticeable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 61%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+17.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 53%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
