Canned Mushroom Market Size in Asia

In 2020, the Asian canned mushroom market decreased by -X% to $X for the first time since 2017, thus ending a two-year rising trend. The total consumption indicated a notable increase from 2007 to 2020: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen years. Production By Country in Asia

China (X tonnes) remains the largest canned mushroom producing country in Asia, accounting for X% of total volume. Moreover, canned mushroom production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Thailand (X tonnes), more than tenfold. Indonesia (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total production with a X% share.

In China, canned mushroom production contracted by an average annual rate of -X% over the period from 2007-2020. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: Thailand (+X% per year) and Indonesia (-X% per year).

After two years of growth, shipments abroad of canned mushrooms decreased by -X% to X tonnes in 2020. Overall, exports showed a pronounced curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% y-o-y. The volume of export peaked at X tonnes in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, canned mushroom exports expanded slightly to $X in 2020. Total exports indicated noticeable growth from 2007 to 2020: its value decreased at an average annual rate of -X% over the last thirteen years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, exports increased by +X% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X% y-o-y. The level of export peaked in 2020 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

The shipments of the one major exporters of canned mushrooms, namely China, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the canned mushrooms exports, with a CAGR of -X% from 2007 to 2020. From 2007 to 2020, the share of China increased by +X% percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) also remains the largest canned mushroom supplier in Asia.

In value terms, canned mushroom imports expanded slightly to $X in 2020. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2020 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

In 2020, Japan (X tonnes), South Korea (X tonnes), the Philippines (X tonnes), Malaysia (X tonnes), Singapore (X tonnes) and Hong Kong SAR (X tonnes) was the key importer of canned mushrooms in Asia, committing X% of total import. It was distantly followed by Israel (X tonnes), comprising a X% share of total imports. Jordan (X tonnes), Saudi Arabia (X tonnes), Thailand (X tonnes), the United Arab Emirates (X tonnes), Lebanon (X tonnes) and Indonesia (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.

These countries were followed by South Korea, Singapore, Israel, Malaysia, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Indonesia and Lebanon, which together accounted for a further X saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, the canned mushroom import price in Asia amounted to $X per tonne, picking up by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern.
