The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 177%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, mixtures of slag exports reduced to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 1,144%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) represented the key exporter of mixtures of slag, generating 65% of total exports. It was distantly followed by China (X tons), achieving a 29% share of total exports. Vietnam (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to mixtures of slag exports from Lao People's Democratic Republic stood at +21.0%. At the same time, China (+38.2%) and Vietnam (+28.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Imports in Asia

In 2021, overseas purchases of mixtures of slag increased by 83% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports posted a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 405% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, mixtures of slag imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Myanmar (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) represented the main importers of mixtures of slag in 2021, finishing at approx. 40% and 37% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by China (X tons), achieving a 12% share of total imports. Macao SAR (X tons), Oman (X tons) and Nepal (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Singapore (with a CAGR of +91.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Myanmar ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported mixtures of slag in Asia, comprising 62% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 25% share of total imports. It was followed by Oman, with a 3.1% share.

In Myanmar, mixtures of slag imports increased at an average annual rate of +90.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Singapore (+58.4% per year) and Oman (+63.1% per year).
