The level of export peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
India was the main exporter of mica in Asia, with the volume of exports reaching X tonnes, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by China (X tonnes), committing a X% share of total exports. Japan (X tonnes) and Sri Lanka (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from India decreased at an average annual rate of -X% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Japan (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Japan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +X% from 2012-2021. By contrast, China (-X%) and Sri Lanka (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+X p.p.) and Japan (+X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of India (-X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($X) remains the largest mica supplier in Asia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by China ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Japan, with a X% share.
In India, mica exports declined by an average annual rate of -X% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+X% per year) and Japan (+X% per year).
Export Prices by Country

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +X% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
