In 2018, approx. X tonnes of husked (brown) rice were exported in Asia; shrinking by -X% against the previous year. In general, brown rice exports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% y-o-y. In that year, brown rice exports attained their peak of X tonnes, and then declined slightly in the following year.

In value terms, brown rice exports stood at $X in 2018. Over the period under review, brown rice exports, however, continue to indicate a remarkable increase. Myanmar was the main exporter of husked (brown) rice in Asia, with the volume of exports recording X tonnes, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2018. Pakistan (X tonnes) held a little share of total exports.

Moreover, Pakistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter in Asia, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2018. By contrast, Thailand (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The export price indicated a moderate increase from 2007 to 2018: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, brown rice export price decreased by -X% against 2014 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices for husked (brown) rice attained their maximum at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2018, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Pakistan ($X per tonne) and China ($X per tonne), while Myanmar ($X per tonne) and Thailand ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

The imports totaled X tonnes in 2018, rising by X% against the previous year. The total imports indicated a measured increase from 2007 to 2018: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, brown rice imports increased by +X% against 2014 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, brown rice imports attained their peak figure in 2018 and are likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

China (X tonnes) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Bangladesh (X%). Palestine (X tonnes), Turkey (X tonnes), Afghanistan (X tonnes) and Taiwan, Chinese (X tonnes) took a little share of total imports.
