Embroidery Exports

Exports in Asia

In 2022, approx. X tons of embroidery (without visible ground) in the piece were exported in Asia; reducing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, embroidery exports dropped to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by X% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

China represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which finished at X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by India (X tons), creating a X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Pakistan (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) - together made up X% of total exports.

Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Pakistan (X%), India (X%) and Turkey (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Pakistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Thailand (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (X p.p.), India (X p.p.) and Pakistan (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Thailand (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest embroidery supplying countries in Asia were China ($X), India ($X) and Thailand ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. Turkey and Pakistan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

Pakistan, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Asia

In 2022, supplies from abroad of embroidery (without visible ground) in the piece decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the fourth year in a row after three years of growth. Overall, imports, however, posted a noticeable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by X%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, embroidery imports fell dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Turkey prevails in imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near X% of total imports in 2022. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Bangladesh (X%). The following importers - China (X tons), Cambodia (X tons), Japan (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Syrian Arab Republic (X tons), Yemen (X tons) and Iran (X tons) - together made up X% of total imports.
