Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 67%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, aluminium tube exports totaled $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a mild downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 44%. Exports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) represented the key exporter of aluminium tubes and pipes, creating 45% of total exports. Saudi Arabia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 19% share, followed by Turkey (9.5%) and Oman (9.4%). Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Japan (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to aluminium tube exports from China stood at +4.2%. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+71.9%) and Oman (+52.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +71.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Japan (-3.5%), Turkey (-5.4%), South Korea (-12.9%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-13.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Saudi Arabia (+19 p.p.), China (+13 p.p.) and Oman (+9.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Turkey, South Korea and Taiwan (Chinese) saw its share reduced by -8.4%, -9.8% and -12.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest aluminium tube supplier in Asia, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 9.4% share.

In China, aluminium tube exports expanded at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Saudi Arabia (+76.2% per year) and Turkey (-1.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 6.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the export price increased by 18%. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 20%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aluminium tube imports fell slightly to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while Yemen ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
