In value terms, aircraft launching gear exports contracted dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed a dramatic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 15%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Taiwan (Chinese) represented the main exporter of aircraft launching gear, deck-arrestor or similar gear and parts thereof in Asia, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near 39% of total exports in 2021. India (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 17% share, followed by Israel (9.4%), the Philippines (7.3%) and Singapore (6.9%). Turkey (X tons), Pakistan (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and China (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
Exports from Taiwan (Chinese) decreased at an average annual rate of -22.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Turkey (+30.7%), Pakistan (+18.7%), India (+4.8%) and Israel (+2.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkey emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +30.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Malaysia (-6.6%), Singapore (-7.0%), China (-20.4%) and the Philippines (-38.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of India, Israel, Singapore, Taiwan (Chinese), Turkey, Pakistan and Malaysia increased by +16, +8.7, +5.6, +4.1, +3.2, +3.1 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), India ($X) and Israel ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together accounting for 58% of total exports. These countries were followed by Pakistan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, China and Turkey, which together accounted for a further 32%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Turkey, with a CAGR of +11.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 47% against the previous year. Export price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the export price increased by 50% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+17.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of aircraft launching gear, deck-arrestor or similar gear and parts thereof increased by 17% to X tons, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, aircraft launching gear imports fell rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, India (X tons), distantly followed by Afghanistan (X tons), Israel (X tons), Pakistan (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Japan (X tons) represented the main importers of aircraft launching gear, deck-arrestor or similar gear and parts thereof, together committing 69% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons), Singapore (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Iran (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), China (X tons) and Nepal (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to aircraft launching gear imports into India stood at -3.8%. At the same time, Israel (+29.8%), Nepal (+26.9%), the United Arab Emirates (+11.3%), Iran (+6.7%) and Pakistan (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +29.8% from 2012-2021. Afghanistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Japan (-3.3%), Singapore (-5.4%), Turkey (-9.0%), China (-9.1%), South Korea (-17.9%) and Vietnam (-24.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Israel (+9 p.p.), India (+5.2 p.p.), Pakistan (+5.2 p.p.), Afghanistan (+4.6 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+3.1 p.p.), Iran (+2.4 p.p.), Japan (+1.9 p.p.) and Nepal (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Turkey (-2.6 p.p.), South Korea (-8.5 p.p.) and Vietnam (-19.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest aircraft launching gear importing markets in Asia were Japan ($X), Turkey ($X) and Singapore ($X), with a combined 55% share of total imports. Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates, Nepal, Pakistan, South Korea, Israel, China, India, Iran and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Nepal, with a CAGR of +37.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -36.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the import price increased by 42%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+10.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
