Refined Maize Oil Exports

Exports in ASEAN

In 2022, overseas shipments of refined maize (corn) oil were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by X%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, refined maize oil exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a noticeable descent. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Malaysia represented the major exporter of refined maize (corn) oil in ASEAN, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. Singapore (X tons) took a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Myanmar (X%).

Exports from Malaysia increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Myanmar (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
