In general, imports, however, saw a slight decrease. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Thailand (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) represented roughly 57% of total imports in 2021. Vietnam (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Malaysia (X tons), the Philippines (X tons) and Singapore (X tons). All these countries together took near 40% share of total imports.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 20%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
