Moreover, Senegal emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Madagascar (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Senegal (X p.p.), Mozambique (X p.p.) and Sierra Leone (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while South Africa and Madagascar saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest zirconium ore and concentrate supplier in Africa, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Senegal ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Mozambique, with a X% share.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, zirconium ore and concentrate imports surged to $X in 2023. Overall, imports, however, saw a mild descent. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

The countries with the highest levels of zirconium ore and concentrate imports in 2023 were Zambia (X tons), Egypt (X tons), South Africa (X tons), Tunisia (X tons), Algeria (X tons), Zimbabwe (X tons) and Tanzania (X tons), together accounting for X% of total import. In value terms, the largest zirconium ore and concentrate importing markets in Africa were Zambia ($X), Algeria ($X) and South Africa ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports.
