Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, South Africa, Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Algeria, Morocco, Ghana and Mozambique lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of wheat flour production, amongst the main producing countries, was attained by Uganda, while wheat flour production for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, exports recorded a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs in 2019 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, wheat flour exports rose modestly to $X in 2019. In general, exports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. Moreover, Rwanda emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2019. South Africa experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Morocco (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Egypt (+X p.p.), Tanzania (+X p.p.), Ghana (+X p.p.) and Rwanda (+X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while South Africa and Morocco saw its share reduced by -X% and -X% from 2007 to 2019, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The level of export peaked at $X per tonne in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2019, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2019, the country with the highest price was Burundi ($X per tonne), while Morocco ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tonnes in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2019, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
