Exports in Africa

In 2022, shipments abroad of video projectors increased by X% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep slump. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, video projector exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2022, South Africa (X units) represented the main exporter of video projectors, achieving X% of total exports. Botswana (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Senegal (X units). All these countries together held near X% share of total exports. Kenya (X units), Rwanda (X units), Tunisia (X units) and Cote d'Ivoire (X units) took a little share of total exports.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest video projector supplier in Africa, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Botswana ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Rwanda, with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in South Africa was relatively modest. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Botswana (X% per year) and Rwanda (X% per year).

The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate significant growth. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, video projector imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

South Africa represented the key importing country with an import of about X units, which resulted at X% of total imports. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by X%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per unit), while Senegal ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
