Exports in Africa

In 2022, overseas shipments of tuna (prepared or preserved) decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports recorded a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, preserved tuna exports contracted modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Mauritius (X tons) and Seychelles (X tons) were the major exporters of tuna (prepared or preserved) in Africa, together constituting X% of total exports. Ghana (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Senegal (X%). The following exporters - Tunisia (X tons) and Madagascar (X tons) - each accounted for a X% share of total exports.
