Sulphur Exports

Exports in Africa

In 2022, exports of sulphur in Africa dropped slightly to X tons, reducing by X% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, sulphur exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Zambia (X tons) and South Africa (X tons) represented roughly X% of total exports in 2022. Equatorial Guinea (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Libya (X%). Egypt (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to sulphur imports into Morocco stood at X%. At the same time, Democratic Republic of the Congo (X%), Zambia (X%), Senegal (X%) and Egypt (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Democratic Republic of the Congo emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022.
