Exports in Africa

In 2022, the amount of styrene-acrylonitrile (san) copolymers in primary forms exported in Africa declined remarkably to X tons, reducing by X% against the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a moderate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, styrene-acrylonitrile copolymers exports reduced notably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded temperate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted notably in the following year.

Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X), Egypt ($X) and Algeria ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined X% share of total imports. South Africa and Morocco lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

Morocco, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (X%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
