Railway Passenger Coach Exports

Exports in Africa

In 2022, the amount of railway or tramway passenger coaches (not self-propelled) exported in Africa dropped sharply to X units, falling by X% compared with the previous year. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by X%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, railway passenger coach exports contracted notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by X,974% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

South Africa dominates exports structure, amounting to X units, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Cote d'Ivoire (X units) and Namibia (X units), together achieving a X% share of total exports.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, railway passenger coach imports dropped notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted markedly in the following year.
