Loudspeaker Market Size in Africa

In 2021, the African loudspeaker market decreased by -2.1% to $X for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a prominent expansion. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then declined slightly in the following year.

Loudspeaker Production in Africa

In value terms, loudspeaker production contracted sharply to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the production volume increased by 144% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

Loudspeaker Exports

Exports in Africa

In 2021, the amount of single loudspeakers (in enclosure) exported in Africa dropped remarkably to X units, shrinking by -20.1% on 2020. Overall, exports, however, showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 110% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, loudspeaker exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 48%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

South Africa (X units) and Botswana (X units) prevails in exports structure, together committing 92% of total exports. Egypt (X units) took a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Egypt (with a CAGR of +24.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest loudspeaker supplier in Africa, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Botswana ($X), with a 21% share of total exports.

In South Africa, loudspeaker exports expanded at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Botswana (+1.3% per year) and Egypt (+25.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 46% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced downturn. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per unit), while Botswana ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+0.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Africa

In 2021, overseas purchases of single loudspeakers (in enclosure) decreased by -6.3% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after four years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 147% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, loudspeaker imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +66.8% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the twelve major importers of single loudspeakers (in enclosure), namely Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Egypt, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, South Africa, Morocco, Senegal, Namibia, Cameroon and Algeria, represented more than two-thirds of total import.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Senegal (with a CAGR of +65.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest loudspeaker importing markets in Africa were Kenya ($X), South Africa ($X) and Egypt ($X), together comprising 42% of total imports. Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Algeria, Morocco, Ethiopia, Namibia and Rwanda lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Senegal, with a CAGR of +56.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, rising by 14% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 24% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Rwanda ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (+16.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
