In 2022, the African safety seat belt market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2016, thus ending a five-year declining trend. Safety Seat Belt Exports

Exports in Africa

In 2022, overseas shipments of safety seat belts increased by X% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, safety seat belt exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

South Africa (X units) and Tunisia (X units) dominates exports structure, together generating X% of total exports. Algeria (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Algeria (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per unit), while Algeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of safety seat belts, when their volume increased by X% to X units. Total imports indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, safety seat belt imports soared to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to safety seat belt imports into South Africa stood at X%. At the same time, Rwanda (X%), Tunisia (X%), Senegal (X%), Morocco (X%) and Algeria (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Rwanda emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Ethiopia and Angola experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Kenya (X%), Tanzania (X%) and Egypt (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
