Exports in Africa

For the third consecutive year, Africa recorded growth in overseas shipments of safety headgear, which increased by X% to X units in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, safety headgear exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

South Africa dominates exports structure, resulting at X units, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Mauritius (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Tunisia (X units). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total exports. Kenya (X units) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to safety headgear exports from South Africa stood at X%. At the same time, Mauritius (X%), Tunisia (X%) and Kenya (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mauritius emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($X per unit), while Tunisia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2016 indices. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Algeria ($X), Rwanda ($X) and South Africa ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined X% share of total imports.

Rwanda, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, growing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a slight decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by X%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($X per unit), while Madagascar ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
