The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, roasted coffee exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +X% against 2018 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

South Africa was the largest exporter of roasted coffee in Africa, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Kenya (X tons), Morocco (X tons), Tanzania (X tons), Malawi (X tons) and Ethiopia (X tons), together achieving a X% share of total exports. Rwanda (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Rwanda (with a CAGR of +X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +X% against 2012 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
