The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X cubic meters. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, rare gases exports reduced slightly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. In value terms, rare gases imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a resilient expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Rwanda (X cubic meters) represented the main importer of rare gases (excluding argon), comprising X% of total imports. Namibia (X cubic meters) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Mauritania (X cubic meters). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total imports. The following importers - Angola (X cubic meters), Senegal (X cubic meters), Benin (X cubic meters), Nigeria (X cubic meters), Mozambique (X cubic meters), South Africa (X cubic meters) and Morocco (X cubic meters) - together made up X% of total imports.

Rwanda was also the fastest-growing in terms of the rare gases (excluding argon) imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Mozambique (X%), Mauritania (X%), Benin (X%), Morocco (X%), Angola (X%) and Senegal (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Namibia (X%), South Africa (X%) and Nigeria (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Rwanda (X p.p.), Mauritania (X p.p.), Benin (X p.p.) and Mozambique (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of South Africa (X p.p.), Nigeria (X p.p.) and Namibia (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
