In 2022, overseas shipments of pumpkin (squash and gourds) increased by X% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, exports saw a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, pumpkin exports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Morocco was the key exporter of pumpkin (squash and gourds) in Africa, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by South Africa (X tons), committing a X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Namibia (X tons), Ethiopia (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) - each resulted at a X% share of total exports.
