Prepared Binders Exports

Exports in Africa

In 2022, shipments abroad of prepared binders for foundry moulds or cores decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a five-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, prepared binders exports rose slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

South Africa represented the largest exporter of prepared binders for foundry moulds or cores in Africa, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Swaziland (X tons), generating a X% share of total exports. Egypt (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
